The advice in these pages is aimed at the beginner. There is a wealth of good equestrian advice available both on the internet, in books and through other people, but sometimes it’s nice to have some answers to some of the so-called ‘dumb questions’ which really aren’t dumb at all!
Some advice about advice: every pony and every rider is different – take what you find useful and helpful for you and your horse and feel free to discard anything else. Most experienced horse people will tell you that what they do is the result of years of learning from different sources and finding by trial and probably some error what works for them and what doesn’t. There is almost always more than one way to do anything. And just when you think you know what you are doing, you’ll get another horse…
With horses, the destination is often difficult to define, but there is a lot of joy to be found in the journey!
